Some older scrapbooking layouts November 29, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — judithbeattie @ 10:57 am

I had a really busy day.  My father in law is in hospital after a fall so we went to visit him.  He is bored but in good spirits and should be out in couple of days.  At 83 it’s not easy taking a tumble.   I spent lots of time today doing family history research which is something I have neglected since taking up scrapbooking.  There’s just not enough time in each day to have two such time consuming hobbies but I do have lots of photos of past generations and I have scrapped a few of them so I thought I would share one now.

Magnolias November 27, 2009

We have three magnolia trees in our yard.  With the recent rain they are looking fantastic.  I love these flowers.  They don’t last long so as soon as I see a flower opening I am out there with my camera.

Another Halloween layout November 27, 2009

Filed under: Life in general, Scrapbooking — judithbeattie @ 3:38 am

Here is another Halloween scrapbooking layout.  Thanks to Cindy from  A Scrappe Angels Heaven in Werribee for drawing the cat for me.  I had no hope of drawing something like that so well.   I really enjoyed doing this particular layout and I am sure that I am going to use this ’serendipity’ technique quite a few times in the future.   It was really easy to do and lots of fun.

There is a bit of a story behind this layout.  On Halloween night my husband was working outside when he fell off the ladder.   He made it to the front door which he had locked and banged on it.  I was in the kitchen and there were kids in the lounge room playing but they didn’t bother to look to see what was happening.  I thought it was a mum who had arrived to collect a child.   Luckily for my husband our dog started barking and wouldn’t stop so I went outside to see what was happening.  He was lying face down and there was blood everywhere.

He was concious but I didn’t want to move him so I rang the ambulance which came quite quickly.  The ambos were great (thanks guys).  They took him off to hospital for stitches and a check up.  I sent my daughter off with her cousin and I went with a friend to collect hubby from hospital. I have to add that we were already wearing our Halloween costumes ready for a scrapbooking party.

So we took hubby home (he said he was fine) and went to the party leaving the bloody hand prints down the door, blood drips up the garden path and substantial pool of blood in the driveway.  Strangely hubby says no one knocked on the door for trick or treat that night.  But my daughter got to go trick or treating with her cousin (she got some good stuff as seen in the photo).  She had a fantastic night, my friend and I had a great night at Scrappe Angels and hubby is just fine now.

As promised here are some scrapbooking layouts I completed at the weekend retreat.  The owl on the Halloween layout was handcut during a class at A Scrappe Angels Heaven  I completed the rest of the layout using photos I have already posted on this blog.

I am continuing to scrapbooking my cats.  They are both so photogenic.  The other layout is of my eldest daughter.

What a hoot!

So cute!

Scrapbooking Retreat November 25, 2009

I had an incredibly fun weekend at the ‘A Scrappe Angel’s Heaven’  scrapbooking retreat.  I will share some layouts later on.  Tonight I thought I would post a few of the photos I took during an evening stroll.  This is regrowth, 9 months, after the Black Saturday fires of 7th February 2009 here in Victoria .  The colours are amazing.  There is a red bracken growing all through the area.  These photos were all taken in the Upper Plenty area just a short walk from the retreat.  The owners of the property told us how they fought the fires and managed to save all their buildings.  They are down in a gully so had some protection from the fierce winds that day.  The fire was very close and while there is regrowth in some places in others there is total devastation.

I’m off to a scrapbooking retreat with ladies from A Scrappe Angels Heaven.  I’ve been looking forward to this for the last month.  I’ve been packing lots of papers, printing photos and trying to put together a few kits so that I can have a productive weekend.  Here are some recent layouts.

I thought I would share a couple of photos that were taken at the Witchmount Winery.  I attended a school ball with some good friends but we were surprised by this unannounced guest who stole the limelight as soon as he arrived.  He does need to watch what he drinks in the future.

Yes I know it’s a bit late for Halloween but I thought I would share some photos of some of the food that was prepared by customers and staff of A Scrappe Angels Heaven.  We went there for a Halloween crop and had a fantastic time.   It’s an annual event.  I am looking forward to next year already.

Sharing some recent scrapbooking November 7, 2009

Filed under: Scrapbooking — judithbeattie @ 11:32 pm

I have been doing a lot of scrapbooking recently.  I am really enjoying my craft work at the moment.  These are all layouts that were done fairly quickly.  I have been doing a lot of work on art trading cards recently but I am in the middle of several swaps so I can’t share the cards I have done as yet but I will do soon.

It’s been a long time. November 7, 2009

It’s been a long time since I blogged but I do intend keeping this blog going.  Each time I log on to blog I see my previous posts about my father and I find it difficult to continue.  I really miss him.   Today I have decided that I just have to get on with things so I am posting another couple of cards that I have made recently.
