A day at Sovereign Hill January 5, 2010

We went for a visit to Sovereign Hill for the day.  My youngest daughter just loves panning for gold.  We went for a horse and carriage ride and also had a family portrait taken.   I am really happy with the portrait.

Waiting for Santa December 30, 2009

Our two cats have enjoyed having the Christmas tree up.  Last year I thought they would end up destroying the tree but they were both very good.  They love to snuggle in amongst the tinsel but have left the tree alone.   They are going to miss the tree when it gets packed up.

Christmas December 29, 2009

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.  We had a fantastic day.  It was very busy here.  I hosted both Christmas lunch and dinner.  It was difficult because this was the first Christmas without my father but we did have a good day.  I took my mother home a couple of days ago.  She was with us for just over a week.  It was hard for her but she coped well and enjoyed spending time with family.  My youngest daughter got an incredible amount of presents.  One of her favourites is her new bike.  I will share some photographs of Christmas day soon.

I took this photo of my youngest daughter a few days ago at A Scrappe Angels Heaven.  It’s been a hectic time here.  I have my mother staying for a while and the house has been full of visitors.  I have finished most of my shopping and the presents are all wrapped and waiting to go under the tree.  It’s such an exciting time of year.

I don’t have a photograph to share this time but I wanted to say to everyone how proud I am of my youngest daughter.  I just got her school report and she has some very impressive results.  We just spent some time together reading through her report and she is a very happy girl.

School holidays started last week for us so yesterday we went to our local shopping centre and had our annual Santa photos taken.   Last year we were able to take our our photos but this year the shopping centre has been extended and of course one of the prices of progress was that we had have a professional photo taken.

I thought I would share one of my favourite teenage memories.  I used to love horse riding.  I wasn’t very good at it and had quite a few major falls but I still enjoyed myself and have really fond memories of riding.   I guess the date is really giving away my age.

Our tree is up and I have decorated the backyard with lots of lights.  This year I thought I would try some solar lights.  They are fantastic.  Next year I will definitely be buying some more.  Our Christmas decorations are up and my youngest daughter  helped me to decorate our tree.  I thought I would share a photo of her sitting under the tree.

It’s been a very busy few days around here.  We had our annual family get together last night at my sister in laws home.  It was great.  She did a fantastic job.  Her home looks (which always looks good) looked fantastic with Christmas lights and decorations galore.  We had a barbeque which is a real Aussie tradition.  My brother in law is an excellent cook.  So we had lots of good food, plenty of drink and excellent company.   I now have to spend lots of time getting my home organised for another family event on Christmas day.

Today I thought I would share layouts of all 3 of my children.

Frogs December 3, 2009

A few weeks ago I transferred some tadpoles from a large pond we have in our yard to a smaller pond on the other side of the house.  I did this last season and I watched the tadpoles growing their legs but we went away just as they were getting near the end of their metamorphosis.   This year I was able to photograph the new frogs.   These frogs are tiny.  They are about the size of my smallest finger nail.   They do get larger as they mature but even when fully grown they are still a small frog
